Built Out of Frustration.
GetCostWise wasn't started by an energy company. It was built by an engineer solving his own problem.
The Origin Story
A while back, I was signed up for a popular "Free Nights" electricity plan. I thought I had found a great deal. The marketing made it sound like I was beating the system.
Turns out, I wasn't. When I actually looked at the math, the higher daytime rates were wiping out all my "free" savings. I was overpaying, and I didn't even know it.
I tried to shop for a better option, but I ran into the same trap everyone else does: confusing spreadsheets, hidden fees, and thousands of confusing options on government websites.
So, I Built My Own Solution.
I realized that guessing wasn't working. I needed data.
I used AI to extract my home's exact "Usage Profile" from my past bills. Then, I wrote a program to feed that profile into hundreds of different electricity contracts. I didn't want marketing fluff—I asked the algorithm for the unbiased truth.
The computer spit out a boring, unadvertised plan that looked average on the surface but was mathematically perfect for my home.
The result? That one switch ended up saving me around $100 a month.
Why I Shared It
That $100 wasn't just a number—it was tangible money I could use for groceries, savings, and my family. I realized that millions of other Texans were probably stuck in the same "Free Nights" trap I was.
So, I polished up my code and launched GetCostWise. My goal is simple: to help you keep your hard-earned money where it belongs—in your pocket.
